FACTS
There once were five boys who wanted to be robots. However, the Powers that Be forbade this, so they settled for being a band. What the band made was retrograde dance punk made for misfits and lovers. Early designs began three years past; upgrades were made gradually with the addition of extra power outlets and fresh manual labour. Results vary between boiled electronic grandeur, and vast, static-filled, bleeding-heart disco ballads.

"First times are either awkward forgettable moments or experiences that excite and engage. The album is full of various instrumentation, yet remains tight throughout, emitting the impression that the band has been producing records for a decade."

TOUGH LOVERS
Through the rickety door of a faded old barn the swelling bass and thundering drums of an aspiring indie rock band regularly disturb the silence of the night. Within this rustic rehearsal space, Tough Lovers, a Vancouver based quartet, continually fine-tune their unique sound. Surrounded by discarded hay bales deemed inedible even by livestock standards and competing with the screeches of circling barn owls, the vulnerable harmonies of lead vocalist Jamie Smail are oddly in tune with the desolate surroundings.
