Info: On October 11, 2008, all funds raised from the 1st ANNUAL LAKE BALBOA MUSIC EXPERIENCE will be donated to the non-profit organization Hands On New Orleans (www.handsonneworleans.org) and will go directly to support the Moten family project.

Brenda Moten and her ten family members have received minimal assistance and have been living in an uninhabitable home since Hurricane Katrina devastated the city of New Orleans, three years ago.

Angelenos from across the vast city will honor the traditions of the New Orleans Jazz Festival by savoring elements from the famed gathering. Live blues, folk, rock and soul bands, eclectic DJ sets, local foods and wines, an array of artisan booths including handmade jewelry, professional photography and “green” clothing in addition to interactive elements like massage, temporary tattoos and tarot card readings will tempt participants to indulge in the richness of New Orleans while honoring all they have lost.


“When I attended New Orleans Jazz Festival in 2004, I could never have imagined that a city with such authentic character and vibrant spirit would soon be consumed with such grief and loss. New Orleans deserves to have their city back. The people of Los Angeles are grateful for our infinite local resources, which enable us to make our wildest dreams come true. We want to give some of our good fortune back into another artistic community, “ says festival founder Abbey LeVine.
