Study will give free heroin to Vancouver addicts
VANCOUVER (CBC) - Up to 470 Vancouver heroin addicts will take part in a North American first – a study that will give free heroin to junkies.
As part of the North American Opiate Medication Initiative – or NAOMI project – carefully chosen addicts will be given free heroin or an unrestricted amount of methadone for 12 months. After that period, the doses will taper off.
The goal is to see if prescribed heroin is better than methadone for addicts who have failed standard therapies, and to find out if giving the drug for free will reduce homelessness and crimes linked to supporting drug use.
It already has the approval of the federal government, Vancouver police and city politicians.
What that ****? Here junkie enjoy free drugs. I hope all 470 OD.

they better make sure to give just enough so the guys don't sell part of their heroin or methadone. this sounds like these guinea pigs will be the ones that maintain a habit and aren't multidrug users and actually are willing to carry out the cognitive behavior therapy.

giving out free heroin didn't work for the swiss it won't work here......can u imagine of someone being an alcoholic and u give them free booze.....that would cure them...right?....giving out free heroin is just going to invite every junkie in north america to jump on a grey hound and come to vancouver....we will end up with more junkies.

another fantastic idea.
Lets givem free drugs, set em up in a nice pad downtown, and maybe get them some free hookers for the weekends.
Whos payin for these drugs anyway?
