So I THINK I'm done with the whole car thing for now. Besides the fact that I can't really afford another nice car, I've always wanted a bike. I AM beginner. I'm going to take the lessons at Actions (Everyone says they're probebly the best to go to). I want to get some openions on what to buy. I've ALWAYS loved the ZX7R. I know in the past, they've been tanks though, but I hear the new ZX7RR's aren't too shabby.

I obviously don't want anything over a 750 for a starter bike. What should I go with?

Thanks.

go with whatever looks good to you and sits comfortably. performance is basically all the same for street bikes.. you'll never wind one out enough on public roads to notice the differences anyway, really. at least not as a beginning rider

Yeah goto the bike shops and sit on all the bikes..see what feels best and what your most comfortable on.

Regarding the zx7rr? I think that bike was done in like 1997.
I think you may be refering to the zx6r? or 636.
IMO i wouldnt buy either.
When I saw the zx6r at the bike show, I didnt like it.
It looks much better on the pics..
The windscreen is really low, the instrument cluster looks really lame...the shape of the bike is really odd too...and its heavy...and slow hehehe j/k
The only cool thing about it was the exhaust smile

But anyway I would look at an R6..CBR600RR...or a gix 600.
As a new rider i think that will be enough..
Usually a 600 is enough for people anyway, you will never use the bikes full potential in your entier riding life smile

Good Luck though!!!
It will be one of the best things you have ever done!!
+ dont forget that having appropriate gear is crucial.. having your roadrash cleaned with something similar to an sos pad doesnt feel too good ...

Thanks for the input guys. Now.. should I go buy used or just go buy something new? Cause they're not THAT expensive.

make sure the tires are round and not square.

I would look as something used as well..
hehe no matter what You will eventually drop it.
But an older used bike , is much better to learn on. And when it does fall, your not gonna be too sad about it.. but its better to get a used one to beat around on.

^ dood I took action that is a great place to learn how to ride DAT, ROY, and SLOW MO (as he likes to be called) are great teachers...

It doesn't matter if u take the class or not, there are two types of riders those that have fallen and those that are about to fall.. Buy a used bike there isn't any point in purchasing a new bike b/c u lose 3 G's after the first season due to depreciation... If you looking to buy I am getting rid of my HONDA 03' 600 F4i we/ 4900 km on it for about $9000.... HID conversion, tank strip, yoshimura Rs-1 exhaust...
(email me if ur interested)

the only thing u need to buy new is the gear make sure u buy the nicest gear because in the end if u cheap out on the gear its ur ass that gonna be melting on the tarmach...

there was a couple of after market parts and no u can't buy a f4i for 10G its 11, 400 plus taxes and shiping which will bring it up to about 13,000 when u done...

yoshimura exhaust $800
HID - $144
carbon fibre tank guard $50

if u check the buy and sell 01 F4i are going for 8500 w/ high km gixxie... so an 03 for 9k is pretty fair...

Aftermarket parts mean nothing when you are selling a bike.
Your probably better off taking them off and selling seperately..
I know if i was buying a second hand bike, Id like it to look as stock as possbile.

F4i's are everywhere, and still I think that is a very high price for it.
Good thing yours has low km's.

i would take gixxies advice and get an old bike to start on. I bought a 78 suzuki gs550e.. 300 bucks, mint but it had been sitting. I read the manuals, taught myself how to rebuild the bike and got her running.. it was a great trainer bike to learn on & it taught me so much mechanically (the old ones especially are so basic). It even shows u what gear your in! i still have it coz its a blast to ride on.. Id reccomend doing the same. coz now that its all fixed up i could easily sell it for a grand. smile
