If Gary was smart he'd ask to go back to the sonics and pay cut ..... he still has family there and he'd see the playoffs once more..
I say Spree to 6ers next year... He's voiced several times in his career, that he wants to play with Webber.. this is his chance..

I guess for Gary, that's a moot point now. Trade deadline has passed. But true, I do want to see him back in a Sonics uniform. He is retiring (soon) so the Sonics don't really lose anything by acquiring him. But two times having to get a pay cut... i don't know about that. But it IS the Sonics. The fans love him and vice-versa
Next year, not only will Spree will be gone but I think Sam will go too. KG, again, will be the one that is left when all is said and done. That's too bad. Olowokandi, man, what a disappointment. He's almost becoming like a Vin Baker
Speaking of which, Baker should have a new lease on life with Houston. I'm glad Houston made this trade although they had to give up Taylor who I also like. I just hope Vin goes back to his old playing form. They are taking a big risk with someone who has personality and off the court problems but is a real good player if he puts his mind into it.

I think Houston trading for Baker is the dumbest move! and I belive Baker is just an add on to complete the trade anyways. Houston are desperate for a point guard coz Sura is gone thats why they made the trade with the Knicks. Vince Baker is all but done in the NBA guy is averaging something like 1 point&1 rebound a game this year. the trade was mainly Norris.

cant help to dream eh? I agree Baker is an enigma... but as I said, if he puts his mind into it, he becomes a good player but that's far and few in between. Taylor was much more proven. He has a mean medium range game and can power inside. It was stupid to trade him in the first place.
Baker and Olowokandi are so similar...

^ Except that Vin Baker was once one of the better power forwards in the game, albeit a long time ago. Olowakandi has never really lived up to the expectations for a #1 pick.
But if you are saying that they are both bums now, then ya they are pretty similar.

yep more than bums... they are not earning a cent of their contract by not playing hard

Tonight will be an emotional rollercoaster for kings/sixers.. watch the game.. it will be good..

yep, should be real fun to see former teammates go at it. I got to watch Boston yesterday with their new look and Cleveland with the acquisition of Welsch.
I want to see the other teams like the Warriors, Rockets, etc... to see how they fit in. It's a little bit too early to make judgements as they need time to gel. But it really should be interesting to watch...

Time to put the Ewing theory to the test in Sacramento...

Ewing theory?
|

|
2/26/2005 10:55:00 AM
The theory that states that there are some players who are considered stars.. they will put up great stats, make amazing plays, get admiration from fans everywhere... and their team will never win a championship or crucial playoff series with them at the helm. Never. Therefore, since the goal of every sport is to win that championship, team is actually better off without them despite how seemingly stellar they are.
I'd post you the link to the Bill Simmons article that explains it, but the ****er has gone and made it "registered viewing only".

i understand totally. that's what i figured as well. I guess you can call it the Karl Malone theory as well.
As for the Kings and Philly game. They're not showing it up here. Dammit. It's on NBA TV but not scheduled for the Score or any of the other sportsnet stations, or ABC. Hopefully, they replace the game scheduled today with the Sacramento game. Who knows they may make last minute adjustments

Sacramento has proven they can play without Webber though. He's been on the shelf for very long periods of time and Sacramento hasn't really missed a beat. It'd be a lot different if the offense revolved around Chris, but Sac-town has a passing scheme that has everyone involved. He's very expendable and it will be proven again.
There's no reason to compare KG to Vin Baker just yet, after not even one full season gone so far. That's insulting to Garnett. Kevin Garnett is playing injured right now. Everyone is saying so. He's still putting up okay numbers but it doesn't look like he has much explosiveness. Now if he continues this for another few years, then it's a different story. But he's hustling out there. Vin Baker on the other hand, never hustled.
