I use it now for about 30-40% of my telephoning and I spend about $1.40 a month.
apparently the ability to Skype-in is going to happen this year. When it does, it might be the only thing I use for phoning.

Man oh man, do I love skype.
Skype IN is now available, but there are no Canadian numbers.
As soon as they do, I'm ditching my VOIP phone and using nothing but skype for all my calling.
Phone service for $49/YEAR, including voicemail, accesible from any computer. The INSTANT I'm able to get a Vancouver number, I'm getting a USP cordless phone and this will be all I need for phone service for a long time.
I'm ***king stoked! $4/month for a "landline" that I can move with my computer and 2.7¢ /minute for outgoing calls anywhere in north america and europe, free to other skype users.
I seriously can't wait.
Factor in linking skype numbers to your address book and calling anyone with a click.

this would only be useful when you have more friends and relatives in Asia or Europe.
if it was more reliable than a landline to Malaysia, then it would also be useful.
however, if the landline in a remote part of the world connects up by satellite phone, then the quality is gonna be shixit.

It's useful to me. I love it!
I use it for all my calling and pay way less than a landline.
When they release vancouver phone numbers, I'm gonna ditch my voip phone once and for all and be paying ~$10/month for all my calls, in and out.
Here I am, sitting in my hotel room. I pay 2.7¢ for all my calls back home, to my parents and locally without having to use the hotel's phone at $1US a pop for a local call.
It's so convienient and saves me tonnes of money

Tarzan that was going to be my question too, depends on the user but some people lose some services.
If you don't need them then fine.

cool, Rascally.
Does it work well on your pocket PC? Do you now have a little map of wifi hotspots in your head?
2.7 cents/minute is a hell of alot cheaper than using a pay phone or your cell.

seems you might be confused a bit.
skype isn't like a regular voip service.
You don't need a phone number to call normal phones with it, just skype-out credits.
You don't need a # to make calls with it.

Noticed for the first time this morning that the total online users cracked 3 million.

I haven't.
I'm guessing it's a 3rd party add-on. Nothing about it on their site.

Skype works awsome for gaming. I found that most users are technically illiterate so trying to get them to use Skype is like pulling teeth. Too bad too cause it's a great free pgm for communicating.
