Ok so a co-worker and I went and got gel nails a LONG time ago and now we're both sick of them.

She made the mistake of trying to remove them at home. BIG MISTAKE! anything she can do to fix them? i think she filed them down or used paint thinner or something but now her natural nails are all scratched up and bumpy and gross.

I think i'll go back to the salon to get them removed but will mine end up the same way? HELP!!

if you dont go crazy like your friend did, you should be able to buff down the edges until they grow out, and it should look natural. Im a cheap ass, and get a fill every like 4-5 weeks instead of 3 weeks, so in the mean time i just buff em and put clear polish over top, and they look like new. Dont try and rip em off at home, but you can get them removed with minimal damage if you cant wait for them to grow off.

your friend should have waited to get them taken off by the people in the salon. The only reason her nails look like that is because they are already weak underneath and since she ripped them off, she was ripping the thin nails right off with the product.

If they are gel nails, file them off. Be patient, but it will eventually come off. Soaking them in acetone WILL NOT work. Filing is the best in this situation.

If they are acrylics, soak them off with pure acetone. You can file them down as well, but soaking is your better bet.

Do not rip them off. This will only make your nails look bad in the end, but you'll be in pain too. Good luck! smile
