If you cancel all the things that it makes you sign up and register for and your friends dont mind doing the same and you consider that free.... then yes.

I am not sure, I have seen some sites with 1 and some 1-5.
I remember people signing up for AOL and then suspending their account after the trial period is over. They recieved a cell phone.

Well that helps a lot when your already at TD bang head

But personally nothing is free. While it maybe free in terms of monetary value. There will be some other catch.
