So.. I have never been to one before, and I would like to know what is appropriate to wear. My bf is great friends with the groom, so he figured a suit would be good... but i have no idea what i should wear!!!! Suggestions please!

wear something comfortable while sitting down in ... and make sure you cover your head with some sorta scarf.
You can pretty much wear what you would wear to a regular wedding really.

I think it would be a neat opportunity to wear something traditionally Indian... You might want to check out a Sari shop just for fun and try a couple outfits on. They can be very pretty.

nah. not too hard at all... I wouldn't consider wearing anything else were I going to an East Indian Wedding. It's quite acceptable for people of other races to wear traditional clothes.
actually, at the East West WEdding Show they had models of all races modelling clothes from all cultures... it was cool!

I work at three East Indian banquet halls and I see non east indian girls wearing saris and langas to the receptions all the time. I don't think it looks bad at all. I also see people wearing dresses too and that looks fine. I also think it would be fun to wear a sari or langa I love them (i don't really care for the suits thoug). And I would do what others have suggested and see if you can borrow something from the groom's sister or cousin or something.
