^ ^ Thanks darlin smile

I've settled on a kind of burnt red (antiquey looking color) fishtail lengha w/ gold embroidery for the morning.

The embrodiery/style will be similar to:

.. minus the extravagent headpiece and with a lighter chunni (scarf) which I would wear like a veil, but pinned further back on my head. And I'm not too sure if I should go with that style of top ^ (square neck) or with this one below (which I reeeally love as well):

As for the reception, I'm going with a saree for sure.. they're very elegant and much more comfortable then a lengha or a wedding dress. The one I'm getting is an off-white.. somewhere between a pearl & champagne color with very light silver embroidery all over it. It's BEAUTIFUL.. the only problem I'm going to have is finding jewlery to match. But perhaps my bf's mom will have some luck with that in India.

I'm totally convinced that me, my bf or someone else is going to spill their drink all over me at the reception. I think I'll bring a just in case saree.. just in case.

unbound, i like the second neckline it way more original and i think its looks more elegant. THe first neckline is overdone, i really like the second one. It doesnt really matter which one u go with cuz ur gonna look stunning no matter what!! heart all the best to u.

by the way i love the fish tail lenghas!!!

this sounds stupid, but all this indian wedding outfit talk makes me wanna go to sunnys bridal and pretend like im getting married. I just really wanna try the outfits on cuz they are soo beautiful.

Congrats! I'm glad I'm not the only one not in to the boring, white, Western wedding dresses. I wore one when I got married in January - I felt like a princess. I love red and all the beautiful, embroidered beads, etc...that came attached to it. It's also pretty sexy as it shows some skin (back, stomach) and has a scarf you can wear around your neck or shoulders. There was also a little t-shirt that went under the sleeveless top, but I didn't wear it. It was a tank top that had different sized straps (one thick, one thin) for the top and a long skirt for the bottom. I got it on Main St. for under $300.00!

ASerrano... can you post some pix? We'd love to see them! smile

Unbound, I think you'd look stunning no matter what you wore, but these last few posted are just divine! in love

CowGirlSissy, the Indian men's attire just makes me want to rip it off them! blush Guess it doesn't matter if it's a tux or a well tailored men's Indian suit... sharp dressed men rock! tongue

Out of the 8 or 9 lenghas that I tried on (which may not sound like much... but it sure felt like alot) I only really liked one. I felt like a Vegas showgirl reject in the bright colored ones I was trying on for the reception outfit. I've seen them look beautiful on other girls but it wasn't working for me at all.

I'm definetley gonna with the second neckline.. I just have to figure out how to print off a good quality picture of it, or have someone sketch it for me so I can have it made in India. ... anyone know any artists or fashion design students??

remember to wear a longer top that covers your tummy... ( not saying that you don't have a nice stomach), just that it's more respectful when you're in the temple... oh yah CONGRATS... When is the wedding?

haha no worries.. but I would never wear an outfit that showed my stomach at anyones wedding let alone my own. And thanks, it's May 7th, 2006.

*drool*

These dresses are so gorgeous in love I wish I could post pics of dresses I have modelled, some of them were so much fun to wear ~ but I would have to scan them in.

I love Indian Bridal stuff, way cooler than that white dress crap

I really like the sleeves on that dress Sissy... but I look awful in red.

I'm so happy with my morning dress and my evening dress is halfway done... couple more weeks and it's mine big grin

... I'm am having a little bit of an issue with making sure my tattoo stays covered (my bf thinks I should just F it and go sleeveless) but I just can't see myself in a gorgeous ivory dress with a big bright tattoo. Lol. Anybody know where I can get a flesh colored bandaid? My dress will have sleeves similar to the ones on the dress Sissy posted but off the shoulders so the bandaid would be a just in case thing.

i'd say just get some really good make up to cover it. I'm sure there are little kits for doing just that!

And if your pics are digital you can always photoshop it out wink

i'm so excited for you!!!

I like the first two that unbound had posted on August 03, 2005 the pink one then the one that looks like a tube top gold. Where was I when this thread first came out. Even though am Portuguese I grew up with a lot of East Inidian Influence so my mom who is 61 thinks am going to marry a brown guy lol. Funny thing is my past relationships have been with two brown guys.
