the rail pass is a good deal if youre staying on the mainland (no UK), and not going long distances. its still massively expensive, just like everything else.
however, renting a car was BY FAR the highlight of my trip. i dont know that i would do that in the east, tho i dont have experience with that first hand...

I dont recommend a eurail pass unless you are going to venture numerous places. They are pricey and limited also.

Thinking about it............yeah eating out was compareable.......(NL, Germany, Italy, Austira, Switerzland, Greece, Spain, CZ)..................living over there (NL and Germany....don't know about everywhere else) you can buy at the stores twice as much as you can hear for the same amount.
But anyways......the food it great!

I live in Prague now, in Vysehrad. It's awesome. Wenceslas square it kinda touristy and filled with romany whores at night. There are Czech fast food stands lining the street that are opened 24 hours and serve sausage, hot dogs, hamburgers (made with ham, not beef), fried cheese sandwiches, and pivo pivo pivo!
You'll have fun, there's all kinds of things to see and do.

Food here is really cheap if you go to the grocery store and cook for yourself. It takes a little more patience than eating out all the time, but things like produce, meats, cheese, eggs, milk, and bread are really cheap. Things that you would have at home (heinz, kraft, french's, old el paso, etc.) are quite expensive, approximately 1.5 times what you'd pay for it in Canada. If you are willing to eat like a Czech, you'll save a ton of money.
