SW Police are warning anyone planning to go to Sydney's Cronulla Beach this weekend that violence will not be tolerated.
A series of text messages have been circulating following two violent incidents at the beach in the past week, including an attack on two lifeguards on Sunday.
Yesterday, a brawl erupted at the beach when a gang of youths allegedly turned on a media crew.
Today NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Mark Goodwin said locals and visitors to the beach should expect a large police presence this weekend.
``I can assure you that if you come down to the Cronulla area ... you're going to see a high visibility of police presence,'' Mr Goodwin told Macquarie Radio.
``We want people to enjoy this beach, it's the best place in the world to have fun and relax ... we're certainly not the fun police but I can assure you we will not tolerate this behaviour.''
While no specific gang related task force had been set up in response to violent incidents at the beach, Mr Goodwin said large numbers of police, including riot squad officers, would be in attendance.
``It's not an officially registered task force, but this is a range of police from a range of specialists areas that will be operating under my command,'' he said.
``I will have down here a large contingent of highway patrol, I'll have our operations support group operatives down here, who handle riot situations, there will be mounted police, there will be dog squad in the area and we will deal with any anti-social behaviour by either side or by any person on the beachfront.''
Police had already charged an 18-year-old and a 20-year-old man over recent violence at the beach, and Mr Goodwin said more people could be charged.
``We've arrested, certainly, two people ... and there may be more to come.
``We've a group of detectives working on that at the moment and I'm ramping that up to include some of our specialist resources down here.''
He warned people not to participate in any vigilante behaviour along the lines of that called for in a number of text messages.
``What we're asking is for the local kids to trust the police and don't ramp it up and escalate it and trust the police,'' Mr Goodwin said.
One message circulating in the Sutherland Shire urges ``Aussies'' to take revenge against ``Lebs and wogs''.
``Bring your mates and let's show them that this is our beach and they are never welcome ...'' the message says.

These are the ****heads who should get deported to wherever it is they claim to come from (no doubt they're all born in Australia and pretend to be 100% foreigner).
Reminds me of the dickheads at Edithvale. Someone needs to take a rocket launcher to that beach and aim just east of the milkbar / shop.

The only way to discribe edithvale, is it is the beach veriosn of Chapel st on a saturday night. Everyone walks up and down, just like chapel and no one goes in the water.
I frequent the many of melbs beachs atleast once a week and have been to edithvale once or twice and never seen anyone actually use the water. hehe
If its not bigger than 5ft its not worth gettin in.

Just out of curiosity, which ethnic group are we slandering when we say "lebos"?

Lebos generally refers to the muslim Lebanese living in Australia.

Does it matter which is which, Muslim Lebos or Christian Lebos, both same. You get some decent ones in either of them but majority is the same.

In my experience , I've found that the Christian Lebanese to be a much nicer group of people than the muslim ones.
My theory is that the muslims have engaged in too much inbreeding. Its a cultural thing with the muslims , cousins marrying cousins and so on. No wonder the kids come out warped.

when do generalisations and stereotypes become true?
When you see examples of them all the time.
Unlike alot of eastern suburb types that stick to their own type and live within the confines of their own "safe" and largely homogeneous while-anglo middle class suburbs , I get out into the real underbelly of Melbourne and see what is really going on.
