This is one of the biggest gripes in regards to working in America. Practically all business expect people to leave their kids stranded when they have sick kids at home. Depending on where you work and what their policies are would depend on what you can do. Have you thought about a nanny though?

Someone at my work has used Virginia Mason's "sick kid" daycare that's for people who have to work and have a sick kid that cannot attend daycare. Good luck.

That is really hard to deal with!!! Sorry to hear they are being so hard on you. Do you have any family or friends close by who you could talk to about this and ask them to be a emergency back up person? Maybe a friend who is a stay at home mom?

how come your son is sick all the time?
i think this is the most RETARDED policy in the work place. Obviously your manager does not have kids. Do they give you personal days on top of your sick days?? Doesn't a doctors note account for anything??

I just talked to one lady at work and she said at her old job she used her vacation days when her son was sick.... kinda lame cause then you never get a vacation I guess......

Well thats BS you gota be so paranoid about taking a day off from work that you had to bring the kid with you.
Its sad that it has gotten to the point that Americans as a society have put work above children now. Seems like people are forced to fit family around work, instead of work around family.

Thanks Drea! You're awesome!!!
how come your son is sick all the time? I don't know... I breastfeed, eat healthy; take good prenatal and other supplements. He got RSV two months ago, then just got a cold.
i think this is the most RETARDED policy in the work place. Obviously your manager does not have kids. The stupid thing is that she does have kids. She is just enforcing the corporate policies to the T. Seems like she does not leave room for individual circumstances.
Do they give you personal days on top of your sick days?? Yep and the eff'd up thing is I used four vacation days while he was sick and in the hospital. And I am hourly, so they didn't even pay the three sick days I went over. That is why the whole thing is B.S.
Doesn't a doctors note account for anything?? Apparently not, cuz I provided one for every single day I was out.
What about daddy?
Daddy makes almost 2x what I make. But I did talk to him today and the next "sick" day, he is going to stay home.

awwww... leave it to you to say something like this.

I am not going to be popular on this issue.....
I do agree that Vacation and PTO/ Sick leave should be albe to be used for taking care of your young one.
But look at it from a managers standpoint. Work is not getting done. I think your manager could be a little more tactfull, but he/she does have a point. You should have a back-up plan incase something like this does happen.
