Abottsford blows my friend....

big grin

Yaletown = trendy bs.... with you owning sqft of concrete and no land and over-inflated prices.... earthquake = broke w/ a mortgage still..... or better yet .... next wave of restoration of leaky condos / highrise units = expensive assessments and notes in strata minutes and hard resale....

Or you could be old fashion and buy a house with some land somewhere decent not in buttf**k nowhereville and make payments and make money off property appreciation..... without even do'n improvements.... how you doing?

I'd be hard pressed to say which is more full of itself, east van or yaletown.

I just hate how people rave about the yaletown patios. Having drinks in an old wharehouse district with a view of an alley is not my idea of a pleasurable evening.

The only thing good about Yaletown besides the endless coke-fuelled parties is the lack of cars in the alley-so almost Euro...we need more pedestrian driven areas in this "eco-friendly" crock of bull**** city....Commercial drive had one on Saturday and I almost peed myself with joy......a shame that the only place I can revel in pedestrian glory is in boring old souless Yaletown.... blank stare

Typical,

Most people who live in Yaletown are actually small town hicks from Alberta, etc.

Once a hick, always a hick.

have noticed that there is a steady inflow of yuppy creepy people that have started to give the area a sterile and pretentious vibe that i am not liking at all

Rather keep it ghetto ?

there is no ghetto in vancouver, lol.
east vancouver is dirty and i mean around main and hastings.
and yale town looks boring compared to commercial drive.
but that's just my opinion and don't forget that vancouver is the best city in the PooPoo

I like both.

But the pretentiousness of both places comes from the same place.

i'd agree.

actually, the mountains and ocean are nice, if you get rid of most of the people and the fickle, full-of-yourself, top-40 attitude.

So where shall all of us Vancouver-haters move too? Any suggestions?
Also, has anyone noticed it ****IN stinks in this city? Every block there is a new, putrid, vomit-inducing odour, ( it's not me, I checked ) and it will only get worse as the heat of the summer sets in.
I am so perturbed.

I find it really strange that people are bitching about the odour here. If you go to most other major metropolis cities in the world they smell a hell of a lot worse than Vancouver. In Toronto and New York (small by world standards) garbage is put in front of businesses on the curb for pick-up. In the summer the smell and flies are unreal.

If you want to live in a city you have to put up with these kind of things. Otherwise, go enjoy your suburban dream and spend half your day sitting in traffic.

10 Reasons Why I live in Yaletown:

1. I walk to work, grocery shopping, movie theatres, downtown restaurants.
2. I live without a car - and don't have to commute.
3. I am centrally located and can bike to anywhere in the city.
4. I wake up to a beautiful view of water and mountains.
5. I take late night walks along the sea wall.
6. I roll out of bed for early morning runs around the sea wall.
7. I am a block away from a community centre, parks, public art, playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis courts, soccer fields, daycare and an elementary school.
8. I benefit from high-density living in a modern building which is more economical and environmentally friendly than suburban sprawl.
9. I can roll out of bed and walk into the Urban Fare for breakfast in my pyjamas.
10. I bought my condo in 2000 before the real estate boom. smile
