B'Tselem, which monitors human rights in the occupied territories, said the figure included 141 children. Since June, Israeli troops have killed about 405 Palestinians in Gaza, including 88 children. More than half of the casualties were civilians, B'Tselem said. As of November, 9,075 Palestinians were being held in Israeli jails. This number included 345 minors, it said. Of these, 738 (22 minors) were being detained without trial and without knowing the charges against them, the group said. --BBC

	londonkev Member (8774posts) 1/13/2007 8:34:00 PM funny, from what i have heard about black september is that in the initial 10 days aprox 5,000 palestinians were killed by jordanian forces and in the following months a further 5,000 - 10,000 palestinians were killed by the jordanians. a process which included the intentional targetting of civilians.
	trainspotter10 Member (2324posts) 1/14/2007 3:15:00 AM Jordan waged that war to end an attempt by Palestinian refugees (who were expelled from their homeland by the Jewish Zionists) to take over the country that gave them refuge. Israel is waging this "war" to end an attempt by the Palestinians to free themselves from an illegal occupation by Israel that is now in its 40th year.
	londonkev Member (8774posts) 1/14/2007 11:05:00 AM let's face it. the real issue with the israeli-palestinian conflict isn't that so many palestinians are being killed it's that they aren't being killed by muslims. if israel wasn't a jewish nation nobody would care. see darfur for example.
	trainspotter10 Member (2324posts) 1/14/2007 8:27:00 PM Yeah I agree, but I think it's because muslim countries are seen as savage and backwards, and the jews in israel are considered America's allies, a beacon of democracy in the middle east, civilized, etc. when in reality they trounce on human rights and violate international law on a massive scale, and the more aid and support the US gives them, the more power they have to expand their illegal actions.

	mythos Member (24527posts) 1/22/2007 9:53:00 AM no kev we are not supporting the militias in darfur. we're even politically condemning them. however, we are supporting israel and not politically condemning them. there is a difference. our country should not be giving into lobbyist pressure and support israel's obvious WRONG actions. but it's interesting that you keep comparing israel's actions to militias groups in africa who have no interest in human rights.
