	MALIBOOBS Member (9780posts) 10/18/2006 9:21:00 AM VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - A well known Indo-Canadian mobster who's due to be released from jail in the new year has prompted a warning Greater Vancouver could soon be hit by a fresh round of gang violence. Peter Adiwal's been behind bars since 2003 and he's expected to be the catalyst for what police are calling an all-out war between rival groups. Adiwal has ties to the so-called Independent Soldiers, a gang that's been without a leader for several years now. The VPD believes he will seize power as soon as he gets out. Even more worrisome though, is the subsequent clash that could cause between the soldiers and rival gangs. SFU Criminologist Neil Boyd admits, although that's no reason for people to panic, there is some cause for concern. He says usually the people who get hurt in conflicts between or among rival groups are those who are members of those groups but there is concern for young people who go to nightclubs where this kind of activity has occurred before. Adiwal has been a magnet for violence before. In 2004 his best friend was gunned down in an East Vancouver home. I've seen a man die downtown, I've seen people get stabbed on Granville Street, I've seen security guards who walk the park across from the art gallery kick a man who was overdosing, I still go out.

Some places the doormen check people, some places dont and some will let you in if you slip them money and they dont even care whos packing what. I personally would be terrified if I was inside a club and shots were fired. Everytime i go somewhere I looked to see where the exits are. Its silly, i know, but i can help but have thoughts like that cross my mind. Or even if my brother is out. Tonic, perfect example, he goes there sometimes. First thing I did was call him to see if he was okay. I have alot of friends who party 4-5 nights aweek. What if something happens to them...Anyone...just sucks that you have to watch your back for someone else's issues.We already have to deal with over agreesive ass.holes who cant hold their liquour and think its cool to start fights. Again, silly I know..but it is something we should all think about.
