Which ones do you love and use the most? What are your favorite recipes from them?

There's a recipe from LoonySpoons (a healthy-eating cookbook) for chocoalte chip muffins . . . they're soooo effing good!

When I went away for a summer to Banff Centre for the Arts, my mum greyhounded me 2 dozen of them, that's how tasty they are! And low fat/calorie! tongue

(the rest of the cookbook is just mediocre)

for some reason I'm not a big cookbook person. I have accumulated lots of recipes along the way and have them complied in two binders and a cardbox.

But I guess my favourite cookbook would be my battered and tattered old copy of "Joy of Cooking", mainly for sentimental reasons. It was my mother's and we always baked together using it, when I "spread my wings" and moved out on my own, she gave it to me.

The best cook book ever to answer really simple questions about cooking is the Betty Crocker cook book that comes in three ring binder form!

As for recipies, the best cook books are usually the ones that schools make & sell or ones that are put together by associations etc b/c they usually have homemade recipies!

I've got my moms habit of buying cookbooks, but I rarely use them. My fav cookbook is Everyday Italian by Giada DeLaurentis. I really like the pesto recipe from it, and I love the Spicy Chicken recipe of hers, but it' not in that book. My mom is a very good cook, and a home-ec teacher. She's got a very extensive cookbook collection that is probably close to 300 of them. Most recently she has bought ALL (about 25) of the Williams-Sonoma cookbooks, and hasn't even used one of them. blank stare

I have some great cookbooks, one is called The Essential Asian Cookbook and has tons of recipes. I have a few German-language ones as well, from Swiss to Meditteranean to Arabian cooking.

I actually get a lot of great recipes from the Internet too!

this one is kinda decent too...but nothing in English that is printed is really that authentic. Japanese home cooking is very different... then restaurant food.

Vikram's book is great! ^^
If you're sticking with local, add
Christian's book from the Tomato:
