Did Ford & Mazda amalgamate? Anyways, we've got two Mazdas I love them. And I think yours is really cute Boondock (not a fan of red, but whatever).

Ford Motor Company owns approx. 33% of Mazda. And yes, Ford uses Mazda parts.

Black, white, red, yellow are nice colours DEPENDING on the type of vehicle.

I remember getting the flyer for this car in the mail I was like WTF thats a ton of power for a little car I must be missing something! Then there it was an Automobile magazine dyno test. Sure it puts down decent numbers for about 2k of its RPM range. Its comments like this one that would make this car annoying to drive...

''the engine feels anemic below 3000 rpm or above 5500''

Which in my mind would produce an incredibly choppy ride. In other parts of the article apparently the car feels like it turns on and off. Dont take this the wrong way I am asking because I want to know if it is really that bad the graph looks horrible. Or are they blowing it out of proportion. Anyway they advise taking out the Saturn redline did you try this one?

http://www.automobilemag....d3_dyno/mazdaspeed_3.html

Anyway apparently it puts down great 0-60 times and has a claimed top speed of 155 mph. For its price it seems to be a strong competitor. Must be nice having a brand new car enjoy!

Most Ford cars run with Mazda engineered engines built in Japan.

Not the other way around.

''the engine feels anemic below 3000 rpm or above 5500''

Anemic for 260hp+ is not anemic by normal standards.

Goliath, Try driving a Civic Si that gets rave reviews (because its a honda it must good right?) yet feels like a complete slug to me. 190 hp, 140 lbft. Same price as the Mazdaspeed3. For 30K, the MS3 smokes pretty much everything else.

Bassfreak I completely agree. Its like honda has pulled a blanket over most peoples eyes as to what they want and turned it into this is what we build the magazine say's its great so buy it!

I have no idea why that link wont work so i copied and pasted a paragraph on it. The article comapres the GTI Civic Si and Mazda 3.

''Turbos, by nature, have reduced operating ranges, but the Mazdaspeed 3 seems to be particularly susceptible to that limitation. It has prodigious torque in the midrange, but the engine feels anemic below 3000 rpm or above 5500. Honda's normally aspirated Si makes at least 85% of its maximum torque from 2000 to its redline. That means that if you floor the Honda's loud pedal anywhere between two and eight grand, you'll have at your disposal at least 85% of the maximum quoted torque. VW's turbo GTI will hand over at least 70% of its peak number at any time from two grand to its own redline. The Mazda is far behind the others at 20%. ''

I guess that's the Vtech kicking in producing the drop and then spike. I wonder what that would feel like.

Go vtech lol.

Curve doesn't look all that great, but compare the actual numbers of the si to the MS3. At 3000 RPM, the Mazda is kicking out 150 hp, the Honda meanwhile doesn't get to that hp range until after 6000 RPM.
