This generally isn't the type of movie that I'm into, but I've been so intersted in the Myan culture, even more so after my boyfriend and I went and visited Chichen Itza about 5 years ago. The makeup and costumes in this movie look amazing, and so authentic.

Almost the entire cast of this movie was local Myan people who have never acted before. I can't wait to go and see this, I really hope it's good. It's so violent it's rated R.

Is that the new Mel Gibson flick? If so, that's enough to steer me away. I liked him better when he was just Mad Max, not the crazy religious nut with too much money.

I thought it might be interesting to see, but when i learned it was entirely in some other language, it turned me off a bit.....i dont really want to sit in the theatre to read subtitles.

judging from the trailers i don't think it will be a good movie, but i might see it to have a look at a world from the past recreated.

I liked it quite a bit. It is a beautiful looking film.

I'm a sucker for action/adventure jungle flicks.

It was good, I wouldn't see it again though. NOt alot of movies make me want to see it twice.
Unless it was Big Daddy heart
My friend complained about too much man-ass in the movie

not a big fan of mel's, but i'm also a sucker for loosely based historical fiction movies, even if they were made in hollywood. the fact it has subtitles appeals to me.

i wonder if they bought the mayan pyramid constructed for the fountain (i highly recommend!, darren aronovsky trailer ->
after brad pitt dropped out.

wasn't too squeamish etc.
But not to give it away, I kept on thinking how one scene reminded me of bowling.

Great movie.

It always astounds me at how many people won't watch a movie simply because it has subtitles.

p.s. This movie doesn't have a lot of dialogue anyway.

a regular at my work today told me that in the states, there is some protest about the way gibson portrayed the Mayans in this film. apparently they were portrayed inaccurately and focused too much on the "savagery"

What do you expect from a racist Australian?

Although on his defense Australians got some savagery going on for themselves there so it may not be totally race-based heart

I can't help but wonder if he hired local people so he could pay them less.

That being said, I do want to see this but I'll catch it on dvd. Can't sit through that in theatres. Is "apocalypto" a Mayan or Spanish word?
