OceanB_ Member	12/16/2006 2:14:00 AM OK, so I still have my Alesse prescription, I'd like to continue it, and despite news and manufacturer notices that it should be back and/or available now, if not soon, apparently no pharmacy in Greater Vancouver has it. When this shortage thing was announced, I still had two packs at home, and a prescription for more. Unfortunately...the shortage continues. So, off I go to get a NEW birth control pill prescribed and the doctor gives me Yasmin. I'm two weeks into my new Yasmin pills, and my breasts are swollen, gorged, and sore sore sore. Although this makes them look a bit nicer and I'll have to get some new bras, the pain (caused by swelling, I suppose) is not so pleasant. Also, I feel like I'm retaining more water than usual. I've been on TriCyclen, Diane35, and Alesse. I did not like TriCyclen and Diane35 cannot be taken for more than 6 months. None caused this much swelling. I want Alesse back. This entire shortage situation is awfully strange.

SBee Member	12/16/2006 11:34:00 AM I switched from Alesse to Yasmin sometime last summer...I definitely put on some weight and experienced the bewby tenderness...it's subsided for the most part however, and I'm happy to report that my moods have never been this steady (and good) ever. When I go to the Doc I usually get him to write me 2 prescriptions for 2 different BC pills...then I don't have to go back and see him if I don't like the one I try first.

OceanB_ Member	12/16/2006 3:27:00 PM I've put on 2 lbs. since starting Yasmin. I lost weight on Alesse. This whole shortage thing is awfully bizarre. How could this happen? There must be some internal war amongst manufacturers going on.

OceanB_ Member	12/17/2006 12:38:00 AM ^Because it's only supposed to be prescribed for women with acne or hirsutism, and not strictly as a birth control pill. There is a greater risk of blood clots with Diane 35.

QTkat Member	12/17/2006 7:05:00 PM I switched from Alesse to Yasmin about 6 weeks ago. I gained weight on Alesse (more water retention) and so far haven't had this experience at all with Yasmin. I haven't had any negative side effects so far on Yasmin either, though I didn't really have any on Alesse either. Everyone reacts differently!

candymandy Member	12/18/2006 11:45:00 AM Yasmin is my FAVOURITE BC pill . . . .and I've been on a tonne. My gyno recommended it to me after hell on Alesse, tryclene, tricylene lo and the depo shot. Apparently Yasmin actually HELPS with water retention because there is a bit of a diuretic in it. It did make my boobs swollen, but I love the fact I have cleavage for the 1st time in my life I Yasmin
