I get to buy myself a new laptop for my work truck. They have all been pc in the past and I would now like to go with a new Macpro.
1. Everyone says with the Paralels software you can run all the windows programs, how seemless does this work?
2. We run telus aircards. The reason I need a laptop in my truck is to receive pdf blueprints on site, faxes, and also send digicam photos back to the office for evaluation.
Does mac have an equivalent of aircard? All macs info talks about wifi and wireless network crap, but doesnt explain **** to someone like me, and telus' aircard network info only speaks of pc based stuff. my jobsites are in the boonies, theres no hotspot, everything has to be sent over the cellular aircard type system.

I dont care whatsoever about fast or power. I dont care about virus free, widgets, or any of that.
Its for my job and the sole function is to look at pdf files when needed. I dont have to pay for it so I have no problem blowing $3000 on a mac when a 5 yr old junker pc laptop can do the same function.
The only thing that separates my decision mac to pc is that I like the slick looking outside of the mac. Purely cosmetics aside from needing it to be able recieve documents.

What? No, they can't. They can only run the Darwin core, which is like running FreeBSD without X; it's only a command line interface. The Aqua GUI, which is a big part of the definition of OS X, will only run on an Apple machine.

when looking for a new laptop make sure they have a PCMCIA slot. we ran into some issues with some Dells as they DO not come equipped with a PCMCIA slot, only a PCI-E slot.
another option is to tether your cell phone with PC via USB cable and using the Telus connection manager software to connect to telus's wireless network

Many of the new laptops including Dell and MacBook Pro don't have the old-style Cardbus PCMCIA slot, they have the new ExpressBus slot. Lower-end laptops including the standard MacBook do not have ExpressBus or PCMCIA.
Check out your aircard to find out what type of slot or port it needs. I did a quick check and the Sierra/Telus cards seem to require the old-style PCMCIA. slot. Maybe some cards(?) can use USB2 which is on all laptops.
They run the Parallels software for lots of demos on the G4TechTV channel and have commented many times on how it works great.
