What's the minimum that you would take to get paid for a job?

There's this job that I know of thats really great and it would be a great opportunity, but the pay is soooo unbelievably bad thats its not even funny. They can get away with it cuz its for the "experience" and yaya yayaa.....

So, what do you guys think......if you were offered a job that had such awful pay, but could possibly launch you into the career that you're striving towards, would you take it?

Take the job, gain some experience, then book it somewhere else.

It's an intern thing, so it would only be for about 3 months.

I would have to agree. If this is what you really want, then get the experience.

Three months isn't all that long.

I found that the more I charged, the more clients liked my work. Go figure.

My Opinion :

One can do anything from grunt to executive work below 35 years old. When one is young, one can swallow his/her pride.

Beyond 35 years old, one "SHOULD" have his/her career path sorted out. Of course, the earlier the better.

So, assuming you are <35 years old. DO IT!

The pay doesn't matter to me. Honestly. It's all about gaining experience!

Got to pay your dues. Just don't pay them longer than you have to.

the funny part is, that you will continue to pay your dues until you know you are done. Only you will know, no one else can tell you. if someone else has to tell you, then somethings wrong, or youre a doormat

If it'll pay off in the long run, it's probably a good thing.

You gotta start somewhere. Working a poor paying job that will get you to your goals is better than working a good paying job that goes no where and you're not happy with. And 3 months is nothing.

same. i get more work at $50 and hour than i do at $30. i started there, though, and built up a name for myself until people recognized my work. just make sure they don't take advantage of you working for cheap for too long.

If I were you and I really saw this opportunity as helping me with my career I would take it, considering this is the best offer at my disposal right now.

You take what you can get and make the best of it until you reach a point in your career where you have enough options to choose from.

Boost: $50/Hr is pretty good. Is that contract gigs you do or a full time job?

freelancing as a piano accompanist. i've found that if i charge less, people assume i'm not as good as i am. it's kinda funny how that works.

Wow, thats completely crazy. How much work was involved with it tho for you? Did it seem like you were doing a lot?

You see, this job seems like there is A LOT of work that goes along with it.....so much that I should be getting wayyyy more for it. I would even have to work some evenings and weekends blank stare

I'm not the type of person who works for less than what I think I deserve....I've always been like that. But yah, perhaps swallowing my pride for a few months would be the best thing to do. Grrr, I would really hate that tho.

At this stage in my career, If I'm not making at least $25/hr I'm not interested.
