Just reading the way you wrote the question.... it sounds like you know what the answer is. You seem like you have pretty good instinct.
But.... saying "a really great op" but also that you would be swallowing your pride.... ???
Do you assign yourself your value on the money you make? Some people do. That might change things.

I should also tack on that if I don't find the job to be interesting then its not worth my time either. If a dream job comes up, something that will advance my career a great deal but its less pay. Well at this point in my life I would take it.
Like Strategy said do you assign yourself your value on the money you make?
