He has simply been in the business for a long time and has managed to survive. The main reason why he lasted in the industry is because he is able to "get wood" in front of the camera.
Many guys that have a shot at becoming porn stars don't get far because they can't consistently "get wood" in front of the camera and with all the behind the scenes people there.

I saw a doco that was made about Ron "The Hedgehog" Jememy a few years ago. He has been trying to get into the legit entertainment industry for years but noone is interested in him.
