Agreed. I actually have been thinking about this a lot lately... since 2003, there has been a surge of fresh sounds globally, and music has once again become interesting. I go through phases of buying lots of music and then buying very little.... the early 2000s were certainly a "buying little" era, but in the last 3-4 years, my music spending has almost tripled, which only means a lot of great music is coming out that I cannot resist :-)

i think it gets worse afte miami. not because there is less music but there becomes this influx of the top tracks that everyone plays.

but right now new sets with all new tracks is super fun fun

Actually lots of good music are out everyday.
Good tracks are given out before so djs can play them in Miami.

Ten years ago,you go to the record store on Thursday afternoon, spend an hour there, buy ten records and you are happy, now I spend few hours a day just to combing through all the music that came out.
But it's all worth it I think.

For underground house what tends to happen is labels and DJ's hold on to the gold and play the s#!t out of them in Miami... Hype is generated... then those tracks get released not long after. Well that's my experience anyways.

yeah man...I tottally agree....everything seems so fresh...and there is a huge abundace of hot tracks......every week i get excited to spin cause i have at least 15 new tracks to lay down....and everything is being recycled (mash upss and remixes)...so you have that classic touch with flare....then the crowd loves yah for it!!

my 2 cents

reviving a month old post, but whoa ... so true.

for a while there i was thinking that I must be getting LESS picky, haha, then I remembered this post. No, it makes more sense that electronic dance music is getting bigger and better everyday...

there are more dj's and more producers than ever, everyday. as each of us works and becomes more experienced at what we do, and also influence our friends (and educate!), it only makes sense that all of it is getting huger. (about friggin time in Canada, wow we are only about 4 [but probably sadly 10 years] behind most other countries in the world in this regard)

i will also cite the highly anticipated (by me) fall of North American hip hop rap crap. yay! can we get some bitches over here yo!

but really, I think it was this year's DJmag Top 100 DJ Poll, when vote statistics first came out that basically stated EDM is growing at an exponential rate around the world: http://www.djmag.com/inde...op=top_100&story=home

and then.... http://www.djmag.com/inde...op=top_100&story=2006

********************************************************************************************
The results of the most important poll in dance music:

A staggering 217,102 dance music fans voted in DJmag's 2006 Top 100 DJs poll.

That's 90,000 more than last year and a true indication that dance music is still a massive global phenomenon.

The truly global reach of DJ culture was once again highlighted with votes coming in from 229 different countries (there are only 243 recognised countries in the world).

The USA provided the most votes in 2006, closely followed by the UK, and then Germany.

But there was also a sharp increase in voters from Brazil, Israel and Canada.

The next 150 DJs who didn't make it into the poll will be revealed exclusively on DJmag.com on 8 November 2006.

There are interviews with all 100 of the DJs that made it into the poll in DJmag's special collector's edition of the magazine. Out Now.

^ I was beginning to sense that things are beginning to get more progressive in Vancouver. Its good to read this. I was assuming that we have been showing up on the map more because of the olympics etc.

The North American Rap Hip Hop seems like it has more of a hold on Vancouver than it should. We have such an international population, and yet, the club scene is so drowsy in the majority of locations.
