Militarism is the most serious problem in the world today, led by the United States. If they took 5% of their military budget, they could supply fresh drinking water and education to the entire world; and then they would not need most of the remaining 95% would they?

Why not? The root cause of the world's beef with the United States is their tendency to use military force to coerce everyone else. If they used a tiny fraction of that money to assist the most economically disadvantaged, they would have such an enormous gain in global credibility that they would not have to sustain the vast majority of the TAXPAYER'S MONEY that gets thrown into the black hole of defense and the totally unaccountable "intelligence" budget, whose very SIZE is a classified secret! Militarism, as practiced by the United States, is the most colossal and egregious waste of resources imaginable. Why does the size of their arsenal have to continually expand? What is the justification? They already possess the mightiest military force on Earth, so why do they have to keep getting bigger? If their track record were not so hideously abusive, they might have a stronger claim; but how many Americans have been tried for war crimes? I can't think of any, ever. Pop quiz: name an American war atrocity. It's not hard, no repeating answers kids.

again...it is not the responsibility for the US to do anything for any other country.....if anything... more money should be spent within our own country...better roads, schools. lower taxes, alternate energy, better infrastructures.....etc.
i am tired of non americans and even americans..thinking we should have to do everything for every other country...stop being a leech.
people within their own countries need to get off their asses and make their counrty better and stop asking for handouts or using the US as a crutch.
the US did not get to be who they are by being someone's crutch.
