Very good questions Dwight.
The venues and members create the listings on events that are out there. The only exceptions are when we are sponsoring an event. When I post something about a show, it's either 1. at the expressed request of the venue or promoter or 2. I love the artist.
Nectar, for example, isn't a venue that does much with CV. Hence... no lists for that venue. Though at anytime, they are welcome to post 100% of their events here.

Sometimes posts by users such as Luv and Spesh will alert me to HipHop and some rock shows, but by and large the CV community rarely promotes them. Maybe due to a lack of partnerships with those types of clubs(?), I don't know. Regardless, it should at least be listed.
I DO know not to come to CV if it's HipHop or Rock shows I'm interested in.
Edit: late post. Thanks Menuki.

If u want the official hierarchy, here ya go:
1. Venue Owners
2. Event Promoters
3. Anyone associated with the event
4. Artists and/or musicians
5. CV
That's the basic order of things. We tell them all the time to post their stuff up. Some are starting to more and more, others are still lazy. We have way too much going on locally to do this kind of project anymore. Although, if there is tickets being sold through our various ticketing vendors we have affiliations with, an event listing will be created with a link for ticket purchase. This is done by our content editor.

I totally understand you guys not having a lot of spare time to list every event. However from a business prospective your loosing a HUGE audience.
Right now there doesn't seem to be one website to find out who is playing where and when. (not just hiphop shows) You basically have to search each and every venues website to find out who is in town. If CV were able to consolidate all that information your opening a big 'resource door' that might boost CV's clientele.
just my 2 cents

I appreciate the 2 cents Dill. This is something we're in the process of working on. It's funny, when we talk to clients around town, they immediately assume that they have to pay to use the website. I think this is where the big disconnect is in Seattle. They never bothered to ask any questions or explore the website. All they saw was big ads and premium listings haha.
So right now, I'm having our content editor ad more concert listings and things via our ticketing providers. Some of the shows that are through tickets west will be added later because it's not on the approved ticketing list yet. So it will take a few days to add them in. The listings will be there though.
Also, we're going to be working going around town and talking to the point people. This will be a joint effort with our local team and our head office team.
