Lets get back on topic....

I think the major thing to consider is empathy. Imagine your are the child being exploited...

When I was a pre teen I posed for some perv who did sculpture. I now realize that having me pose nude at that age was pretty gross. He was photographing me alot and now I realize it was jerk off material.

Did it damage me? I dont think so.

At 15 I was molested by 2 men, different ones. I was living on the streets and slept where I could and woke up with a dudes hand on my crotch in both cases. Did it wound me emotionally? No. Would systematic abuse by a parent have hurt me more? Definitely. Not sure what I am driving at, other than many so called forms of exploitation such as taking erotic photos of underage models do minimal damage. And that physical exploitation by someone who is trusted can do maximal damage.

We live in a sex phobic culture. There are news stories abound of rape, molestation, AIDS and STDs. ...sex is dangerous, shameful and icky, something to hide away in the dark.

Violence OTOH is glorified to almost pornographic levels. It is more acceptable in North American culture to expose kids to violent films, games and television programs than it is to foster in them a healthy sexuality. I remember the sex ed classes in Jr. High focused primarily on unwanted pregnancy, diseases, rape, abstinence etc..sex is evil and therefore is best avoided. Our culture is disturbed at a deep level.

I watched a pleasant sex ed video in Jr. High... the naked people were cartoons & whilst they were copulating, their house was shaking & the kitten print on their comforter on the bed was bouncing up & down madly.

If you look at European media it is the direct reverse of NA.
Nudity and sex are openly portrayed while violence and gore is toned down.
Much healthier IMO.

japan allows child porn, as does the philippines.

in thailand pedophilia is still possible but crackdowns have begun.

but in kabul, not much change since Alexander the Great brought boy-love and civilized the Mongols.

pedophelia: a product of the western culture tongue

pedophelia is now acceptable in US, CA, and Europe after it had been banned there for decades.

They simply accept any queer sexual behaviour of : gays and lesbians, pedophiles, sex with animals "what do you call this type of queer sex ? ? ?

Statistics
Removed from the article, because they are meaningless without context:

250,000-500,000 pedophiles reside in the United States. - Source: U.S. Department of Justice
What definition of pedophilia do they use? **Moon light shadow 10:51, 30 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Convicted child molesters who abused girls had an average of 52 victims each. Men who molested boys had an astonishing average of 150 victims. - Source: In a study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health Dr. Gene G. Abel, Emory University
The typical child sex offender molests an average of 60 to 117 children, most of who do not report the offense. - Source: The National Institute of Mental Health, 1988
What is the percentage of exhibitionists? I guess, that it is very high, because other offenders can be much easier found and arrested and have fewer victims. **Moon light shadow 10:51, 30 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Approximately 95% of teenage prostitutes have been sexually abused. - Source: CT Center for Prevention of Child Abuse, 1992
This does not mean, that the sexual abuse (maybe just being sexually active at a young age), made them become teenage prostitutes. Other studies show that, sexually abused children often suffer from family disfunction, which statistically is a better explaination for their problems. How many of the teenage prostitutes were younger than 18 and therefore sexually abused? **Moon light shadow 10:51, 30 Jun 2004 (UTC)
It is estimated that children with disabilities are 4 to 10 times more vulnerable to sexual abuse than their non-disabled peers. - Source: National Resource Center on Child Sexual Abuse 1992
How many of the offenders where their peers? Did the disability make masturbation hard/impossible? **Moon light shadow 10:51, 30 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Abuse or neglected children are 67 times more likely to be arrested between ages 9-12 then those who aren’t. - # Victimized children had IQ’s 13 points below the general average of 100, as well as severely depressed reading abilities. - Source: The National Institute for Justice, 1991 Cathy Spatz Widom

========================

WOW ! Approximately 15% of men in US, Canada and Europe are pedophile!

what a primitive culture.

pedophelia: a product of the western culture

Your Arab forefathers took entire harems of underage girls by todays definition. How do you think harem girls were selected? Your holier than thou view of Western culture is hypocritical.

The harem of the Turkish Great Sultan, which was in the Topkapı Palace serraglio, typically housed several hundred - at times over a thousand - women including wives. It also housed the Sultan's mother, daughters and other female relatives, as well as eunuchs and slave girls to serve the aforementioned women. During the later periods, the sons of the Sultan also lived in the Harem until they were sixteen, when it might be considered appropriate for them to appear in the public and administrative areas of the palace. The Topkapı Harem was, in some senses, merely the private living quarters of the Sultan and his family, within the palace complex.

It is claimed that harems existed in Persia under the Ancient Achaemenids and later Iranian dynasties (The Sassanid Chosroes II reportedly had a harem of 3,000 wives, as well as 12,000 female slaves) and lasted well into the Qajar dynasty. The women of the royal harem played important though underreported roles in Iranian history, especially during the Iranian Constitutional Revolution. However, this claim is disputed by some Persian historians.[1]

Are the Turkish and Persian Arabs?

My Arab forefathers, the Fatimids, contributed largely to knowledge and medicine in the past, and their contribution to science had helped the Europeans and the Americans build their countries and develop all aspects of life there.

During that great era, women and children had lived in a safe environment without being instilled into the fear of rape, and were also respected and admired. Nowadays, the number of rapists and pedophiles is increasing so there must be severe punishment for the rapist and the pedophile in order to keep the stability of the nation and reserve morality, which is not present in Europe and America!

I suggest that you, Crosshairs, and other women and children too should keep a gun in your possession at anytime you leave your house to defend yourself against the sexual predators...

So Crosshairs: lesson one: if you feel that a sexual predator is chasing you , pull the trigger and get rid of him big grin because that is simply what he deserves, death!

Pedophiles are mentally sick people. It is not a hypothesis, but a solid diagnosis. Very recently, one of them went so mental as to approach my 12 year old niece right in front of me in a public restaurant. His mental state was so heavily clouded that he was very aggressive when hearing me saying that I am calling police. His eyes and whole face were clearly those of a mentally disturbed person, I can remember them very well, unfortunately.

Castration - is the only solution, as in 99.9% they can't even help themselves to stop depriving children of their innocent childhood.

^If you were born with an overwhelming sexual attraction to small children, would you voluntarily line up at the doctor's to have your clitoris snipped off? Just curious.

/\ This question is irrelevant and largely ignorant. You don't have to snip anything off ONLY IF a person has a will power not to be enslaved to their sickening conditions.

Men are also by nature strongly attracted to females, does it mean they rape them whenever they want to? No, they rape them only if they lack any will power and hence can't help themselves. In this case, yes, castration is the only solution for such rapists. Then, if they will still want to follow their sick passions, they can try but won't succeed.

There are also plenty of examples how very healthy men are able to subdue their sexual desires quite successfully. These can be found among strict yoga practitioners, some monks, and even some regular men who chose celibacy for some reasons. Hence, again, it is a matter of will power to control your actions and wants.

Since pedophiles are either refusing or unable to exercise will power, then society has to take care of their "instrument of menace", i.e. genitalia in a way of castration. It is the same as depriving a murderer of their weapon, drug addicts of access to drugs.

In addition, it is not even a suggestion that they have to be castrated but a requirement to be carried out. If you knew anything about the origin and essence of the social contract, you would understand why I am saying it.

^Why get so riled when all I ask from you is some empathy? Try to imagine you are in the position of the potential pedophile. Does that overtax your imagination?

As for your blanket statement that the only thing holding men back from raping every woman in sight is "will power," well now, that is pretty damned ignorant.

Tantalus, are you serious when asking for even a little bit of empathy for pedophiles? I guess, unless you actually witness how it feels when someone approaches your child with a sexual intention, or if you yourself have been induced to sexual activity when being a child, you just don't understand it. Instead, you are hypothesizing how it feels to be a pedophile in this world which lacks empathy for their unfortunate plight.

Again, you clearly do not know anything about social contract, hence I can't explain to you stuff that takes some extensive reading to understand in your situation.

As for the rape... I was saying that will power is something that can stop a person from imposing their sexual will on another person. There is also a fear of laws and punishment, but pedophiles are obviously not highly concerned with these.

Uh yeah... I think one of the main points is that pedophiles shouldn't be treated as monsters and punished in order to properly treat them and prevent child abuse.

Besides, if someone is truly as sick in the head as you've described ** castration won't stop the abuse of others.
