I like them when they're really ripe. Koreans eat them when they're still crunchy, like an apple. And more mild in flavor. I guess they'd be best stir-fried in that crunchy state.

when dining on fruit, i prefer the persimmon to be firm and crunchy, like a gala apple. though the persimmon is quite a boring and bland fruit for it's price. i would rather stick with pomegranates and pomelos.

I like them just a bit on the soft side. it is pretty yummy (but horribly messy to eat)

messy?
do you toss them up in the air and catch them with your mouth? blindfolded? in mud? lying down?

theres two types of persimmons,, one which is kinda square in shape those are always sweet then theres another type that is larger and more teardrop shaped.. those you need to wait until they are really ripe or else they have a strange residual taste to them and curdle if theyre not completely ripe.. persimmons are esteemed as a very healthy fruit with intrinsic qualities in japanese culture

I've been wanting to throw this fruit into my cooking repertoire, but to be honest I still haven't the foggiest what to do with them.
What would you compare them to?

I dislike them.
Kumquats are much better.

I stirfried some last night. It was hard to get them all into the pan, as some rather large mice kept sneaking away pieces.

I am rather fond of them because they remind me of my Japanese grandma. I don't care for the taste much.

Last year when I was in the mountains in Japan I bought a couple persimmons at a roadside stall and christ were they ever delicious. So I stocked up, and then my girlfriend left them in her brother's fridge. Holy crap was I pissed.
