Why wasn't a translator called? or the Polish Congress??? 10 hours in a secured area of the airport?????????? COME ON!!!

I broke down and sobbed when this aired. He was so visibly scared and on the verge of tears.

What has this world come to?

Did the video show him throwing a laptop and chair about 30 mins before the cops showed up???

They could have pointed their guns at him, surely that would show him that they were afraid of him.

Greg, you do not know what was said when the cameraman backed up. when they were behind the glass we DO NOT KNOW what was said. we can assume... we can guess... but it seems reasonable that the cops would follow procedure and attempt to subdue him.

the taser is supposed to be non-lethal.

Police are all trained to not put pressure on the upper body after tasering as it has been proven to interfere with breathing. There were 4 cops on the guy. After he had been tasered 3 times.

If you are acting unruly it is known action is going to be taken. Throwing a laptop and a chair in an airport which people are already on high alert at is not a smart thing to do no matter how frustrated or upset you are.

Perhaps a little too much force was taken when police finally arrived however throwing things about is a threat to others safty

Airports have tons of security for a reason, things can happen there...like borders they are highly protected.

I cannot believe no one in the secured area helped him, he was in there for so long!

I just saw the interview with his mom, so sad.

phoenix, as usual, you're being a complete moron.

He was understandably upset and lost it, when he realized that NO ONE was helping him, or even trying to. There was no attempts to calm him, and he was tasered shortly after the police showed up.

Is it safe to assume that those posting they are A-OK with the police's actions, would feel the same way, should the victim have been their brother or family member?

If that was your relative, Revenge, I am sure you would be just as supportive of the RCMP's actions.

Tasering a guy who was obviously confused and frightened and not threatening anybody in the vicinity shows, at the very least, extremely poor judgment on the cops' part, and blatant disregard of their own guidelines regarding Taser use.

If the RCMP is so sure their actions were kosher and above board they would not be lying about how the situation went down and initially refusing to return the video (until the guy got a lawyer and threatened to take them to court).

I'm more disappointed with YVR staff than the police though.

I mean I expect cops to do dumb stuff, but I've only ever had good experiences with airport staff in any country I've visited...I would hope YVR would do the same for foreigners.

It's just really sad.

I agree with KP, some of the burden should rest on the staff at YVR, this is a P/R nightmare for YVR and a Pre-Olympics Vancouver.

That poor guy's mother. She told him to wait near the baggage claim, forgetting that there was a 2nd round of security to go through after baggage. That's why he ended up waiting in the secured area so long. I can only imagine the guilt she feels.

sad

Oh the irony of that RCMP ad that appears in this thread.
