Bijou, you should see the Norwegian side of my family tree, very interesting last names and how they came about. Similar to the Icelandic but there were also "Farm names", if you inherited the farm, the land title didn't change names, but you would change your last name to the farm name, etc.

It's been wild trying to put together the family tree, thats for sure.

I've been having a difficult time tracing the Icelandic side of my family tree because of the mess of names. Apparently I'm descended from berserkers...which might explain a lot.
