Apparently it was an "open secret" that she was being abused and molested by her father. Family friends knew, people at school knew, people in the community knew. Elisabeth apparently at one point or another said she'd run away, so people in the community figured she'd done just that. But no one reported as to why she would, because they didn't want to get involved.
Someone even saw the father bringing food into the cellar in a wheelbarrow, but didn't think anything of it at the time.
I doubt her mother didn't know

if the general population didn't really notice countless jews being wheelbarrowed out way back then, an occasional incoming wheelbarrow of food would be totally invisible

The greater issue is that everyone knew that she was being molested and abused, and no one reported it when they were questioned about her.

what's becoming clearer is the great amount of planning and years of building he did to fortify the dungeon... i believe 8 separate doors, with the last three being on electronic keypads, reinforced steel, etc.
