ahhhhh tv's with the channels changed by dial.

remember the good tv's had that 2nd dial?

then the box came out with the wire and all those lil buttons. big ass remote with the brown wire.

then the tv's with the channel buttons down the side. had to open that lil door to get to them.

I'm old as hell. blank stare

these people will never know the feeling of turning a coat hanger into an antenna and thinking you are smart.

Okay, what I remember is this: there was NO channel one.

Channel 2 was CBUT, or CBC, which for some reason came on Channel 3.

Channel 4 was KOMO Seattle.

Channel 5 was KING Seattle.

Channel 6 was Victoria (HI LOLO!)

Channel 7 was KIRO Seattle.

Channel 8 was CTV, but came on Channel 11.

Channel 9 was PBS.

Channel 10 was local cable access.

Channel 11, Tony Parsons, as previously stated.

Channel 12 was KVOS Bellingham, home of JP Patches.

Channel 13 was a dead zone, until CKVU took control in the mid-seventies and showed late-night, unedited softcore porn like the Emmanuel flicks.

And that was it.

Life was tough back then.

I used to have to walk twelve feet, in the dead of winter, to ask my grandfather for the remote control.

nicely done.

ours was very much the same.

Channel 3 was always french.

and if you didn't have cable... a coat hanger and put it in between 13 and U and you could catch something if you were lucky.

It is sentences like this that make people think you are a bitter, jaded, withered old whore, Ishtar.

Awhhh, a tear comes to my eye when I read that line. I feel so warm and fuzzy.

PS: I give a fu(k about what the internet community of cv thinks of "Ishtar"

You do "give a fu(k" or you don't?

There is a difference.

I broke my dial because I turned it too fast. luckily i turned it back to channel 3 before it broke so I was still able to play nintendo.
