September 10 2008
step up for Canada

One Day. One Nation. One Rally.

On September 10 2008 join us in a coast to coast rally that will change the core of Canada’s health care system. In addition to expressing opposition to Bill C-51; this event also marks the launching of the Canadian Charter of Health Freedom, a revolutionary document that will set a new order for Health Freedom both in Canada and Globally.

We ask that you come out and show your support for the Natural Health Community and march to safeguard our Rights and Freedoms. We ask for your support in ensuring that we continue to have unhindered access to Natural Health Products. Change is upon us. Let’s embrace it and stand up for it.

Stay tuned for launch of website before this weeks end!

Ugh, not a chance.

People don't need unhindered access to alleged 'health' products and treatments that haven't been rigorously scientifically tested.

Just say 'no' to snake-oil salesmen.

Ugh, please do your research, schmoove.

1. The charter is not asking for 'unhindered access' to health products and therapies.

2. These health products and services have been around well before your scientifically tested drugs and medicines and have yet to do any significant harm to a single Canadian.

Have you not read/listened to the news in the past decade? Pharmaceutical drugs are hurting tens and hundreds of thousands of times more people than any natural-based medicine...please name some examples of deaths from vitamins, minerals, herbs, or natural therapies and maybe I'll consider your comment above to have some validity.

Case in point:

- http://www.cbc.ca/health/...ons-gardasil.html?ref=rss ("What would I do to prevent cervical cancer? Definitely not Gardasil."wink
- http://www.cancure.org/medical_errors.htm
- http://www.injuryboard.co...-soar.aspx?googleid=29488
- http://www.thespectrum.co...20080902/NEWS01/809020331
- http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/11856.php (this one is a great one...nearly 200,000 deaths per year from medical errors...I don't recall anyone dying from acupuncture...)
- http://www.fda.gov/fdac/features/2000/500_err.html (another example of medical errors from the FDA)
- http://www.washingtonpost...4/08/AR2008040800957.html (here is the potential cost of medical errors)

And here's a Google search for 'death from natural supplements':

http://www.google.com/sea...+from+natural+supplements

And here are links from valid webstes listing the statistics of deaths from natural supplements:

- Oh wait...there are none.

Need I say more? Shmoove, I don't mean to insult you or anything, but you really should do your homework before posting.

Schmoove - you need to educate yourself on the issue, you are only showing your ignorance.
You could get a good head start by watching the YouTube videos I posted of constitutional lawyer Shawn Buckley in the "C-51 hard to swallow" Why not try and broaden your horizons a little rather than coming off like a broken record. You may learn something new from the experience.

There is a rally being held today at the Vancouver Art Gallery - 1:00pm - in support of the launch of the Candadian Charter of Health Freedom and to stop Bill C-51 in its tracks.

Does anyone know a good barber in town that does blood-letting?

I'm having a hard time finding this service in town, and what a shame. It's been around for much longer than any of these fancy new "treatments"

Lol.

Should I broaden my horizons by taking echinacea? You know, that wonderful cure-all that actually does nothing?

Or maybe I could try some other homeopathic remedies, you know, those inert substances that people are paying hard-earned money for, even though they only contain trace amounts of some 'active' ingredient and have never been shown to provide any benefit whatsoever. Well, other than a placebo effect.

As I said, just say 'No' to snake-oil salesmen.

We've already legitimized chiropractic 'medicine' and TCM, which are highly dubious.

We don't need to add any more bogus therapies to the pile.

Well, except maybe those magic crystals. They look pretty legit.

Schmoove, did I mention that pharmaceuticals routinely manipulate their rigorously tested scientific findings to patients detriment? Vioxx? You remember...

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

You made a funny!

Echinacea works (for it's intended purpose) , show me a scientific study that says it doesn't and I'll show you one that says it does. if you don't believe me, why not ask the fine people in the Natural Health Products Directorate at Health Canada?

As for the rest, I'm not talking about snake oil or magic crystals, but it that's what you think, you're entitled to your opinion. opinions are like a s s holes, every body has one! I can respect that.

*crickets*

the rally was great, Shawn Buckley (a constitutional lawyer who drafted the Canadian Charter for Health Freedom) attended to explain the provisions put forward in this proposal meant as an addition to the Canadian Charter of Rights.

It's a pro-active and positive approach to an issue which has historically been a reactive reply to regulations proposed by government.

Unfortunately this thread has been derailed from the original topic which is:
the launch of a proposal for a Canadian Charter for Health Freedom, meant to guarantee the right of individuals to choose how to care for themselves, while at the same time protect consumers from fraudulent claims and adulteration of products (which I should add is already covered under the Food & Drugs Act)

I thought that there were individuals on this forum that were interested or concerned...apparently that isn't the case.

I'll shut up now and go back to running my business.

Thank you for your time and consideration on this matter! smile

How did it get derailed?

You announced a rally in support of snake-oil salemen and people made their comments on that topic.

Or did you intend this to be a love-in for quacks?

I have no support for that bill but i'm not going to protest it either.

Seriously, why does every VAG protest happen during business hours on a workday? What kind of people are they interested in showing? Doesn't seem very intelligent.
