It seems she was chosen more for her ambition, gender, looks, and relative obscurity than her ability.
I mean regardless of your mindless political affiliations, policy opinions, or any other biases, does anyone really think someone who's prior experience is being the mayor of a city of 5000 people is really a good choice for vice president of the most powerful nation in the world? Not to mention that McCain is pretty old, so there's a very real chance she'd be put in charge at some point in the next four years.
I think this was a choice made based on appearances rather than on merit. Looks like DickSS agrees with me.
