Well, here I am after a year or so sabbatical... just when you thought it was safe! tongue

So Bush has been vying for least popular president in history. The only other who had done slightly worse was Harry Truman.

History has been kind to Harry, would the same be said about Bush?

I have been one of the few ardent supporters because of a few crucial decisions he initiated when it was easier to take a more popular stance. He was provided way too many balls to juggle all at once but he did stand up to the challenge.

Both the war and economy took massive swings at the Republicans right to the bitter end. Bush was provoked and prodded in every which direction.

Were there mistakes made? I do believe there was. Would history treat him kindly? Now that Iraq is softening, Al Qaeda is shrivelling and oil prices compressing.... there might be a small glimmer of hope. Perhaps these tough and emotional decisions will be seen for what it was once the media hype and fuller picture takes shape. We must never forget that with freedom, there sometimes comes a price.

Bobby, you should have stayed at your sabbatical you have learned nothing.

"Now that Iraq is softening, Al Qaeda is shrivelling and oil prices compressing.... there might be a small glimmer of hope."

Hahahaha

people are still dying in Iraq, many innocents because of his lies
Oil prices are compressing because of a slowing global economy and a strong US Dollar value (temporary) - In part because of his weak dollar policy, indebtedness and fiscal irresponsibility

Of course people are still dying in Iraq, but now it is within control and has softened quite drastically. The Maliki govt has now taken back control. Many more were dying in Iraq under Saddams rule, and now the oil is safer than under the control of a saddist willing to bully his own people and the international community.

Your facts are waaaaay off...Iraq is not under control on account of US forces, over a million innocent people have lost their lives and millions more displaced. The oil is not safer and definately not controlled by US forces. Where are you getting your news?

I agree with your statement to high extent!

Saddam could have invaded Saudi and dominated oil resources if the Americans didn't rescue Kuwait and saudi in 1990s. saddam was a dictator and the end of his regime and his death was a good riddance to Iraq and its people!

If the terrorists that sneak in Iraq from neighboring countries never committed their attacks in the past five years, Iraq could've been a great and prosperous country now!

so riddance of saddam was a necessity, but i'm not sure yet of the invasion of Iraq !
