Help!

We moved into a new house and i can't figure out what to put in these display areas. Keep in mind they are big! Approx. 4'x6', but have power and spot lights, so the possibilities are endless, but i'm stumped. I don't want to spend a fortune, we've spent a small one this summer, but am looking for something neat! Obviously is going to have to be large or oversized, so it (they) don't look small way up there, ceilings are 19'

Here's a pic (the top ones)

Maybe put those prints you've got on the lower display areas up top, then put some shelving in the lower display areas for some mini picture frames, books, pottery, etc.

those prints would be lost in that space .. a little too small

huge mirrors tilted downward might work

Perhaps something seasonal, at least for the time being.

She could find bigger prints for the top display areas...

I like the idea of installing shelving on the lower ones to be able to display more personalized things.

I would be tempted to fill them all in but if that's not an option maybe 4 sequential art pieces to cover up the design flaw..

I like mirrors but it seems like that would be difficult with those displays and the 19' ceilings

I was thinking something super-christiany, like twin baby jesuses in mangers.

I think 4 sequential art pieces to the exact size of the display boxes, inset, would look best, oh and a mirror in the middle.. something with an interesting frame to break up the boxiness

^ Oh cool!
...or like the three wise men on the right, and the baby Obama-Jesus on the left enjoying all the presents.

Just remember that people standing near the fireplace might not be able see the bottom quarter of whatever you put in there because of the recess. The further back you put something (like a painting) the worse the problem becomes.

They are 21" deep.

Love the jesus themed ideas, i was also thinking an angel on one side and devil on the other. tongue

Keep the ideas coming, also pics, etc. It's easy to say, put 4 sequential pictures, but where to find ? I'm being a little lazy asking for this, but my time is limited with a new baby who hates, hates, hates shopping. You'de never guess i went to school for interior design by asking others to help. I'm sure i could find something great if i actually spent a day downtown, but not an option currently. I know there are lots of shoppers around here, come on guys !

FF is right, those prints that are sitting up on the fireplace right now are small, only 2' high, they would be tiny up there, they are just sitting there until i find a home for them.

Lots of decorating to do around here.

Joel, i tore cartilage in my knee, have been on crutches for the past few days... Fun with a baby, but at least with the cane i can carry him now.
