I want to wear open toe shoes to my work xmasdodad tomorrow but I also want to wear hosiery. You can see the predicament I am in.
My coworker mentioned you can get hose with no toes but I have never heard of such a thing.
1) has anyone worn them, are they crap?
2) where can I get them?
3) any other suggestions, aside from buying new shoes, which I am not really into at the moment.
thx.

It's not the hugest faux pas. I see tons of ppl at www.thesartorialist.com wearing open toed shoes with pantyhose (ie. check out the current fourth pic down from the top right now) and it looks great, especially when the hose dark purple or another neat colour. And if you're worried about slipping I think using some of those stick-on 'flower petals' would work.

I always thought hose-toes was a no-go.
I'm not wearing weird coloured hose. It's a formal thing.

I think its one of those things where.. it is either really out of fashion in the mainstream world (ie. if you're say, walking around Coquitlam Centre mall) and really in fashion if you're on the streets of New York or Paris.
I think sticking with black or even grey is good. Beige or flesh coloured hose with open toed shoes may err on the side of looking grandmotherly.

Personally, I wouldn't do it but if you are going to do it, I agree with the odd colored or dark nylons. Ugly does seem to be the new pretty, so doing that would make it alright I'd think...maybe

I think NAC posted a thread about those a while back. Or at least posted pics.

Sounds sketchy at best.
If you must wear hosiery, just go with the sheerest kind there is (Winners carries some amazingly cheap DKNY.. that's the only hosiery I wear these days!)

-I’ve seen them. No clue where to get them
-Try really sheer extra long leggings with stirups
-Or cut normal hose just before the toe and sew on an elastic band, Suzy Homemaker

why not just get the sheer toe and tuck the seam under?

^^unbound said the same thing, until she got some leggings with stirups.
I've done it with a mini, open toe shoes and it looked hot. Not thick leggings obviously, more like the texture of tights

Nothing spectacular. Just looks like thicker hose without toes.

There is seamless nylons an you should be able to get them in all colours at the Bay or Walmart.
