I was just coming on here to post this. I am really excited about this movie, and hope they don't destroy another of my childhood icons.

I have heard all kind of rumors from the fact that the studio hated Henson created monsters and the CGI to them hating the kid playing Max I heard they were demanding Spike Jonze to reshoot the majority of the film to make it less dark.

It better be dark. This is Maurice Sendak, not gay ass Richard Scarry.

Looks Sweet. Cole loves it when I read him the book, it's too bad he is too young for the movie.

impossible!

i had the "book" though all i remember is the image of the bed posts turning into trees. which is good because i will have zero expectations going into this film... and certainly not to expect it to be anything as amazing as the goonies or stand by me, let alone both at the same time!

I wonder how the 30-somethings felt about Stand By Me and The Goonies when they came out.

I've got a friend who still tries to tell me Top Gun is the best movie ever.

Same here. Strange, the only word I regularly associate with Top Gun is gay.

^x3 i thought they were the best movies ever. including top gun. during a lunchbreak i hooked up our stereo and had top gun blasting in VHS faux stereo! all my gay buddies hooting and such!
further on the edge... hotter the intensity
no high fiving.

only now that i am older and wiser can i appreciate it's latent homosexuality.

and yes we did all the "2 for flinching", "skin", "hi/low five" as seen in the movies!
our adventures did not uncover dead bodies, pirate ships, or enemy migs. though we did find dead sharks, dead fish, dead jellyfish, dead eagles, shipwrecks, abandonded houses, bears, shooting guns, cutting down trees, burning anything that burns, swimming with leeches, and yes, gay camaraderie!

Stand by Me was maudlin crap, the start of Rob Reiner's long decline. The Stephen King story on which it was based deserved better.

The Goonies is one of the low points of cinema history.
