It is not a trend. Ed Hardy will not last into the next decade, because bloody skulls with roses and daggers in them are a fad. "skaters" and "rockstars" are a fad? if the quality of the clothing is crap it could fail. the people in control could easily produce products that will carry on. hell, i bet i could design something that even you would wear. yeah you heard me, i bet i could make something with hearts, daggers, flying banners of whatever, and you would implement it into your wear. it might not be noticeable, but it will be branded.
