I run when I've got the runs. If I try to walk it , I just break out in a sweat anyway.

I'm off for a month due to shin splints that are progressing into stress fractures and I miss it soooooooooo much. :'(

Yeah I hate being stuck inside on gorgeous days when I would rather be outside. But yeah I wound up with Patellar Tendonitis and I may have foreign objects floating around in my knee or a tear in my meniscus. I was in physio for over a month and unable to do much. I am now slowly getting back into it, but gotta take it slow or I will just wind up with the tendonitis again. Joints suck!

I'm a runner. I actually need to get new running shoes, I've been using my tennis ones for the last 5 years, I think it's time for a new pair.
What type of running shoes do you guys use or suggest?

can't imagine skate shoes provide the proper support

Yeah I am sure, all of my problems are related to an old surgery where they had to cut my patellar tendon and ACL, FUN TIMES!!! I also have strange feet thanks to 21 years of pointe shoes, I find skate shoes the comfiest strangely enough. I also refuse to spend money on running shoes I don't wear that much as most of my life is spent in 4" stilettos LOL

You run in tennis shoes? Are you kidding? I wish I had strong enough feet to run in anything.
Bashley maybe that was part of your problem?
It is best to have shoes designed for forward motion (not court shoes) for running and ones that are right for your foot type. I pronate quite a bit so I go through new shoes every 3-4 months.
I have gone through all kinds of shoes and have settled on the Mizuno Nirvana for now. Their wave plate technology is very stable, although they aren't very cushioned.
Talking about running when I am not allowed to run is making me feel like a fat slob. I have two more 1/2s coming up this year. The Nike Women's 1/2 in San Francisco and the Rock N Roll Las Vegas!

Ballet makes running very difficult...took me a lot of doctors to figure out that I was having problems because my hip flexors were stronger in a turned out position then straight and it was throwing my biomechanics off. Who would have thought?

It's becoming more and more recognized that the best form of support in running , is no support at all. The advent of running shoes is purportedly what's caused a myriad of injuries over the last 40 years and running in bare feet or the Vibram 5 fingers is the new old evolution of running.

Evolution spent a million years developing the ideal foot and leg structure for long distance running, and humans spent the last 50 years fucking that all up with complicated plastics.

If I wasn't such a lazy bastard, I would get into barefoot running.

^ ^ exactly
I tried the 5 fingers vibram shoes on a few weeks ago at MEC. I just couldn't do it and I always thought I was a function over form kind of person. Maybe one day.

I'm guessing evolution hasn't yet accounted for daily running on concrete.

Trained properly, the muscles in the foot adapt to any environment. The gait for running naturally is totally different than they way people run wearing shoes.
