Swine flu is no worse than the 'regular' flu. We had something like 9 deaths yet apparently 90% Australians caught it not realising that what they thought was a 'regular flu' was in fact the swine flu.
Still some nasty shit though.

sky is falling? how is this thread alarmist? i posted it cause it seems like british people always come up with stupid things like this
closer to home:
Report: Mild H1N1 outbreak could overwhelm our healthcare system Provincial government doesn't think so John Ackermann | Tuesday, October 6th, 2009 6:49 am
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - A new report finds B.C. would be completely overwhelmed by even a mild H1N1 outbreak. But our provincial government is quick to downplay the research.
The report finds only 127 of B.C.'s 976 ventilators are free to deal with the expected second wave of the swine flu which would leave the healthcare system very vulnerable to even a slight increase in H1N1 patients. But B.C. Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Perry Kendall and the Ministry of Health are dismissing the findings as they point out it is modeled on the 1968 pandemic and not this year's H1N1 outbreaks in Australia and New Zealand. Kendall tells the Vancouver Sun most people will be able to fight the virus much as they would handle the regular seasonal flu.

seems like an unusually high number of people are sick from my work this week and last. not just the weak sickly people, but normal people who never get sick are away.

people at my work are such idiots that when they are sick they work from home instead of resting and trying to get better.
