I will agree that Canadians struggle with what it means "to be Canadian". Not surprising considering many of us were not born here or have roots in other countries. Canada has changed a lot since the WASPy 1960s when white was right. It has become the dominate social, economic, and cultural influence on the planet. I think it is ridiculous for someone to complain about the state of "cultural hijacking" when you know that the influence of "American" culture is alive and strong in all of us. Its part and parcel of modern life. It has morphed well beyond an American influence to a Western ideal of living. Wright or wrong, its the culture we have adapted too and adopted as our own as residents of the Modern world.
