Travesty what;
That its water under the bridge?
or
That its about time he has to pay his due?
At any rate Victory Taransky is the better director.

That it has taken 30 years to arrest him.
Rp is 76 now, going to prison (which is highly unlikely) will be like going to a retirement village with no benefits.

He pleaded guilty and then fled. He raped and drugged a 13 year old girl. How can anyone defend this guy?

He agreed to a plea bargain and the judge reneged on it, so he fled.
He's stayed out of the US ever since.
The victim herself doesn't even think he should be imprisoned. What purpose could be served by sticking him in jail after 30 years? Clearly, he's a productive member of society. He hasn't had any similar incidents, so he's already learned his lesson.
What a waste of time and money.

The victim also took his money so she'd say whatever. This does not excuse that he pled guilty and fled. He drugged and raped a 13 year old girl for crying out loud. Ooh, he directs films, what the eff difference does that make? As for it being over 30 years since the act, well that's cause he's been in hiding in places like France. Shed no tears for this guy.

He wouldn't have fled if the judge had stuck to his plea bargain.
They ought to sentence him to time served and be done with it.
And just to be clear, he wasn't convicted of rape.

He's stayed out of the US ever since.
i know. that's how he avoided his punishment.

most normal people aren't going to be too sympathetic about convicts living in foreign countries to avoid punishment.
most normal people don't think that having the connections and means to avoiding punishment is a good enough reason to let someone off.

the ones who don't like it are just lesbos and all they need is a little more practice

Most normal people with any sense of justice and fairness aren't going to ignore the fact that the plea bargain he agreed to was cast aside by a rogue judge intent on proving some sort of point.

Last time I checked, a judge (even a "rogue") isn't the be all, end all of the judicial system.
If the Polanski and his council were ready to drop their pants and confess on a judge's one off whim of leniency, tossing the entire justice system aside, then they deserve the worst.

Agree shmoove_criminal, a plea bargain is a plea bargain.
