i don't think it's going to be very bad. a lot of the streets with olympic lanes have bus lanes anyways. plus the 24 hour no stopping, no parking rules will alow for more traffic flow.

there are things i don't think are good, for example, granville outside of downtown is 24 hour no stopping except in fairview, where it needs it most.

and an olympic lane down hastings?

Luckily I don't think I will be that affected. Haha I just probably will not be leaving the downtown core during the games. I kinda like how late the skytrains will be running, they should have those hours all the time!

I am curious why Vancouver is all about extradosed cable stay bridges lately. Both the Canada line and the Golden Ears are such. They are usually more expensive than other bridges, although they look prettier I guess. I mean yeah the Canada line they couldn't do a typical Cable Stay due to height restrictions being that it is in the flight path of the airport but then why not use a prestress continuous girder? Especially when the biggest concern for the project was cost, hence the brutal decision to go cut and cover... or perhaps I am just overly curious sad

I don't actually know why they chose cable stay other than appearance. The span is too long for a pre-stress girder given earthquake loads, but steel tress would likely have been the cheapest option.

Maybe the span required for shipping made tresses impractical.

The type of parties I go to, if I did that I'd probably get an answer. sad

Holy, I am memorized by this whole thread.

I lose the seawall access near the Athletes Village on Nov 1st, other than that the traffic plan looks fine. I am fucking already sick of the businesses on Granville Street claiming that they will go under because people won't be able to park out front for a month. You deserve to go under if you didn't see this day coming in 2003 when they announced that Vancouver won the bid.
