About Music Farm
The "original" Music Farm opened in April, 1991, on East Bay Street. From his experience as a musician and as a member of a band that had toured the Southeast, Kevin Wadley wanted a venue that focused on music, not just another nightclub. He joined with Carter McMillan whose background in radio and promotion enabled them to create a dynamic nightspot which quickly became known throughout the Southeast as "the place" to hear good music.

In the spring of 1998, the Music Farm entered a new era, with Craig Comer, Yates Dew, and Riddick Lynch as new managing partners and owners. Greenville native Craig Comer was formerly an investment banker with Chase Bank in New York. Comer and Lynch were working together for Nations Bank in Charlotte, North Carolina, when Lynch heard the Music Farm was for sale in April. They immediately contacted the Music Farm's staff in hopes of striking a deal to purchase the Music Farm.
Yates Dew also heard about the sale of the legendary music venue in April, and began researching investment options immediately. Dew was living in Atlanta at the time, and was working for an Internet Service Provider, a job he took after working for a music wholesale supplier in Charleston. Dew, who lived in Charleston for several years, has actually performed on the stage at the Music Farm with his band United Hotcake. He has been performing and promoting for over ten years.

Dew, Comer, and Lynch will be handling management responsibilities at the Music Farm along with longtime manager Jimbo Webb.

"When I heard the Music Farm was for sale I jumped at the opportunity," said Dew. "I didn't have to think about it for one second. I knew I wanted to be a part of it." "We were both looking at purchasing the Music Farm at the same time," explained Comer, "and this partnership seemed like a good match."

They have made some cosmetic changes to the venue, and plan some major renovations after the new year. Other than that, the Music Farm will stay pretty much the same, according to the new owners. "The former owners of the Music Farm established a legendary music venue in Charleston, and we want to maintain that status," said Comer. "We want to continue to encourage musical diversity. Supporting the local music scene is one of our main goals, and we also plan on continuing the quality national and regional acts the Music Farm is known for," added Lynch.
