A small sign in the window -- that's about the only way to know you're at 806. Or you could look across the street to 807 Literary Road, where the adjacent address is in plain view. The lack of signage sums up the exclusive nature of this wine and martini bar, named for its street address, not the number of beverage varieties (though some say that might work, too). Though located in a renovated cobbler's shop -- an old brick structure once condemned for the better part of two decades -- this bar in the historic Tremont district is swanky as Cleveland bars come. Leave your Nikes, tank tops and ballcaps at home -- they aren't welcome here among the connoisseurs of upscale drinks and fine wines. While the latter are plentiful, martinis are the house specialty, accompanied by a variety of stuffed olives with fillings ranging from anchovies to nuts. Sit back and enjoy the Victorian-tinged decor, the loungey atmosphere suitable for casual conversation and some of the best people-watching in town. -- Todd Stumpf
