About Red Dot
At the Red Dot, it doesn't start with the red carpet treatment, but instead a ''red stairs treatment.'' To get in, you have to climb a series of stairs painted a vibrant vermillion color. The shade of red and the look of the Red Dot sign might be familiar to anyone familiar with skateboarding, as they're a loving homage to Santa Cruz skateboards. Martin Beaudoin, owner of The Red Dot, used to be a professional skateboarder. The Red Dot opened in July 2005 in the former home of the Calderone Pub on the corner of Bartlett and Bradford. Far more relaxed than a ride on a skateboard, The Red Dot is a casual, yet swank affair with a red glow and classic design. As a bar, it offers an intimate and exciting atmosphere just off the main East Side strips. An outdoor patio is available for taking in the warm summer nights. The Red Dot plans to offer a full menu in the near future. -- Michael Carey
