About N E Yacht Club
Over a century ago, when the factory buildings south of Marshall Street were shantytowns without plumbing or electricity, this spot was known as the Town Pump -- named for the water pump that stood on the corner. The name has changed, but this two-room bar retains the well-lit, traditional comfort of an earlier era. Owners Todd and Ted Parker grew up on these streets, and the bar does much to support the community. The Yacht Club raffles turkeys and hams at holiday time and outfits the neighborhood teams. This is no smoky dive. From the high ceilings to the clean tile floors, it's a good, old-fashioned spot with broad appeal -- though the wurst and kraut on the menu remind you that you're in Polish territory. All-day double-pours make up for the lack of a happy hour, and there's a tidy poolroom in the back. -- Todd Boss
