About The Narrows Saloon
Not all the good music and good times in the Metro are condensed into urban quarters. Right up from the shores of Lake Minnetonka you can find some of the area's best blues, enough to break your heart or lift your feet while your boat, SUV or snowmobile engine cools near the water's edge. This bar and eatery features top blues artists like Mick Sterling, Kurt Jorgenson or Mojo Buford at a low $5 cover almost every night of the week. (Some artists are cover free.) Drink specials and a weekday happy hour are offered alongside a notable list of martinis, at least 10 brands of tequila and a short, by-the-glass selection of wines. Appetizers are just $4 during happy hour, and you can wash them down with $1-off tap and domestic beers and rail drinks or half-priced Cuervo margaritas. Considering the ''blues saloon'' atmosphere here, the food menu exceeds most bar fare offerings by a nautical mile -- a long inventory of sandwiches, salads and wraps, hefty burgers and entrees are available for lunch or dinner, and some dishes like Dirty Pork Stew, Jambalaya and Blackened Walleye favor Southern taste preferences. -- John Sharpe
